Architectural office Geonwon's bird's-eye view selected as the winning design in the 'Pangyo Startup Planet' planning design competition by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) announced the winning designs for the futuristic 'Pangyo Startup Planet' project on the 2nd.
Pangyo Startup Planet is the largest convergence-type public knowledge industry center in Korea, located within the 3rd Pangyo Techno Valley, covering a project site of 70,000㎡ and a total floor area of 500,000㎡.
This site will establish an open innovation environment where anchor companies and startups can communicate and interact, attract advanced academic departments, provide public dormitories to enhance worker residential satisfaction, create enjoyable spaces where people want to stay even after work, and offer various contents and facilities such as exclusive funds for tenants.
GH stated that Pangyo Startup Planet aims to realize 직·주·락·학 (Work, Residence, Leisure, Learning), lead an innovative growth ecosystem, and complete the Pangyo Techno Valley including the 1st and 2nd Pangyo areas. The design competition selected three firms: ▲Geonwon Architects & Associates Co., Ltd. ▲Design Camp Moon Park DMP Co., Ltd. ▲Haema Architects & Associates Co., Ltd.
Geonwon Architects & Associates proposed ‘NEXUS CITY,’ a space connecting people and the city through multi-layered life terraces, where diverse programs such as work, culture, and commerce coexist and converge.
Design Camp Moon Park DMP presented ‘TRI-PLANET CITY,’ a triangular structure that is independently self-sufficient yet closely connected, shared, and expandable, realizing the completion of Pangyo Techno Valley.
Haema Architects & Associates suggested ‘ROTATION PLANET,’ a differentiated daily circulation space through a horizontal structure that strengthens connectivity between universities and companies, and a life track as an aerial street adding convenience and sophistication to residents’ daily lives.
Kim Se-yong, President of GH, said, "We will strive to incorporate the diverse and creative works selected in this competition into the project plan to complete Pangyo Startup Planet as a space of innovation and opportunity."
