IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 2nd that it signed a scholarship donation agreement with the Hoguk Scholarship Foundation at the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Through this agreement, IBK Industrial Bank will sponsor a total of 300 million KRW in scholarships over three years, providing 100 million KRW annually starting from 2024. The Hoguk Scholarship Foundation plans to award the donated scholarships to children of active-duty soldiers and military personnel who are university students, prioritizing those in need and those with excellent academic performance.
The Hoguk Scholarship Foundation was established in 1992 to assist with the heavy educational expenses caused by soldiers' remote postings and frequent relocations, and to support scholarship programs and university admissions for military families.
Kim Sung-tae, the bank president, said, "Through the scholarship donation, children of soldiers will be able to focus on their studies stably, and soldiers will be able to devote themselves to their primary mission of national defense."
Meanwhile, IBK Industrial Bank is promoting various projects to improve the welfare of soldiers, including support for junior military officer training, job creation for discharged soldiers, and entrepreneurship support.
