The Nation's Best Sunset Viewpoints That Can Enhance the Value of Marine Scenery
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, is set to officially launch the ‘Sebang Sunset Art and Culture Tourism Attraction Project.’
According to the county on the 2nd, the ‘Sebang Sunset Art and Culture Tourism Attraction Project’ is a southern regional tourism development project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. From 2024 to 2027, over four years, a total project cost of 14.3 billion KRW will be invested, including 7.2 billion KRW in national funds, as well as provincial and county funds.
The county plans to create an art and culture tower that also serves as an observation tower, along with a complex cultural space, in the Sebang Sunset area of Jisan-myeon.

Additionally, through a recent architectural design competition, a design firm was selected. The plan is to develop the Sebang Sunset Cultural Park, which expresses the beautiful Dadohae (archipelago), sunset, yunsul (sparkling ripples reflecting sunlight or moonlight), and coastline visible in Jindo. This will create a spectacular scene where the sea and sunset seem to connect, establishing a new coastal landscape hub for Jindo.
The sunset scenery stretching along the coastline will be reflected in the architecture, naturally guiding tourists’ movement with the beautiful sunset views, thereby maximizing the emotional impact experienced by visitors.
In particular, to provide visual interest and excitement, the exterior walls of the building will feature a media facade, and interior spaces will be designed to showcase exhibition and experiential areas. A panoramic deck that encompasses the entire structure and allows circulation will also be constructed.
County Governor Kim Hee-su stated, “We plan to complete the design by April next year and begin construction so that many tourists can experience the sunset views at various locations around Sebang Sunset, the nation’s premier sunset viewing spot. Through the ‘Sebang Sunset Art and Culture Tourism Attraction Project,’ which strengthens the connectivity between natural landscapes and tourism resources, we hope to enhance the value of the coastal scenery and contribute to an increase in tourists.”
