Damyang-gun Hosts 'Memorable Stamp Exhibition with Ecology'

Until September 30 at Damyang Eco Center

42 Items from the Stamp Museum Collection Gathered in One Place

Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Byeong-no) announced on the 2nd that it will hold a special exhibition titled "Memorable Stamps with Ecology" in collaboration with the Damyang Stamp Museum at the Damyang Eco Center until September 30.

This special exhibition was planned to reminisce about stamps, which are being forgotten due to the use of SNS and email, and to introduce stamps featuring ecology and the environment.

The exhibition displays 42 stamp collections (over 800 stamps) owned by the Stamp Museum, allowing visitors to see related stamps of endangered and protected wild animals and plants, marine protected species, wildflowers, and more all in one place.

During the special exhibition period, an event is also being held on-site where visitors can send letters directly by providing postcards and stamps related to animals and plants.

A county official said, "Through this special exhibition, we hope people reflect on the meaning of stamps that convey themes within a small rectangular frame, communicate feelings, and inform about history, culture, and society. We also hope it becomes an opportunity for people to express their feelings to loved ones and take an interest in protecting the natural environment."

Meanwhile, the Damyang Stamp Museum, opened in 2015 in Daejeon-myeon, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, is the first private specialized stamp museum in Korea.

It houses about 100,000 stamps, including Korea's first stamps, modern stamps, and world stamps. The museum exhibits domestic and international stamps organized chronologically, as well as commemorative stamps containing various stories.
