Visiting the melon farm with facilities in Songje-ri, Seji-myeon, Mayor Yoon participated in the melon harvest and heard about the management difficulties faced by the farm.
Mr. Park, the farm owner, expressed gratitude for Naju City’s efforts to have the damage caused by poor melon growth due to frequent rainfall and lack of sunlight early this year officially recognized as agricultural disaster.
Mayor Yoon then moved to the city hall and served as a one-day helper for children attending the workplace daycare center on behalf of parents.
He gave balloon bouquets to children waking up from deep sleep to attend daycare and handed out fatigue recovery supplements and fruit snacks to parents, encouraging employees who juggle commuting with dropping off and picking up their children.
The third schedule was attending the regular July assembly with all employees to review the achievements of the past two years and renew his determination for the third year of his term.
In particular, through the “Message to Citizens on the 2nd Anniversary of the 8th Local Government Inauguration,” he announced the city’s first policies, ten notable innovative achievements, and key directions for the third year.
After the regular assembly, he attended the inauguration ceremony of the second half of the Naju City Council and, through conversations with Chairman Lee Jae-nam, other chairpersons, and former chairpersons, requested active interest and cooperation from the council for citizen happiness and regional development.
For the last morning schedule, Mayor Yoon participated in meal service volunteer work for about 300 elderly people at the Naju City Central Senior Welfare Center, then discussed ways to revitalize commercial districts over lunch with young entrepreneurs and merchant association officials at Cheongsanok, a restaurant successfully started by young entrepreneurs in the old downtown area.
In the afternoon, he visited the Energy New Technology Research Institute and industrial complex resident companies Paldo Factory Co., Ltd. and Gabo Farms in sequence to tour the institutions and companies’ sites.
The Energy New Technology Research Institute, located in the Innovation Industrial Complex, is a research institution under the Korea Electric Power Corporation Power Research Institute and opened in 2022.
It plays a pivotal role in research in the energy new industry sector through future technology research such as renewable energy, energy storage devices, and hydrogen energy, as well as establishing a joint industry-academia-research system for practical research by Energy Valley resident companies in the energy new technology field.
Next, Mayor Yoon visited the Future Education Support Center, established as a pledge of the 8th local government, to check the progress of key education projects aimed at advancing Naju as a premium education city.
The Future Education Support Center is an institution under the Naju Education Promotion Foundation and strives to discover students’ characteristics and aptitudes to provide customized career and education services, as well as nurture creative talents with problem-solving skills to prepare for the global future society.
Major projects include a 10,000 won premium online lecture service in Gangnam style, Saturday after-school learning centers, college entrance consulting for the high school credit system, learning strategy tests, and mentoring through the public institution junior board alliance.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Ahead of the new Yeongsan River era, we will turn the visions Naju dreams of into reality based on current achievements,” adding, “For the remaining two years of the 8th local government, we will focus solely on citizens and prioritize Naju’s development and citizens’ happiness, thinking deeply and preparing thoroughly.”
