445 Million Won for 18 Years... Support for Pediatric Patients and Vulnerable Groups
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) held a "Salary Change Fund Donation Ceremony" at its headquarters in Beomcheon-dong on the morning of the 2nd and delivered a fund of 20 million KRW to the Busan Branch of the Korea Leukemia Children’s Foundation.
This fund was raised last year by collecting less-than-1,000 KRW change from the salaries of the corporation's executives and employees, and it will be used for surgery and treatment costs for children with leukemia in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions.
The corporation's donation has continued for 18 years since 2006. To date, the donations have been used for surgery costs to save the lives of local children with incurable diseases and to help neighbors in need. The accumulated amount has reached 445 million KRW.
In addition, as a public enterprise, the corporation is actively engaged in social contribution activities to fulfill its social responsibilities. It provides talent donations for improving the residential environment and offers essential furniture and home appliances free of charge to vulnerable households in Dongnae-gu, Haeundae-gu, and other local areas. Furthermore, a volunteer group consisting of about 2,000 executives and employees participates in volunteer activities for marginalized groups such as elderly people living alone.
A representative of the Busan Branch of the Korea Leukemia Children’s Foundation said, "The corporation's donation is a great support in helping local children with leukemia," and added, "We will manage the donations transparently to ensure that the children receive the best possible treatment."
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "I hope the sincerity collected by our executives and employees will be of help to the children and guardians fighting illness," and promised, "We will continue to develop together with the local community through ongoing social contribution activities and various sharing practices."
