Reduced Employee Work and Childcare Burden... Creating a Work-Family Balance Atmosphere
Integrated Operation of Disaster Safety Situation Room and Expansion of Dedicated Personnel Starting August
Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Ki-jung) announced on the 2nd that it will abolish the duty work system starting August 1st, becoming the first special/metropolitan city to do so.
The abolition of duty work was promoted to reduce employees' work and childcare burdens and to create a workplace atmosphere where work and family life coexist.
To this end, Gwangju City will integrate duty work into the Disaster and Safety Situation Room and increase dedicated personnel in the Disaster and Safety Situation Room. The dedicated personnel will handle duty civil complaints and disaster response tasks concurrently in the Disaster and Safety Situation Room along with the existing staff.
Additionally, to efficiently handle duty civil complaints, the city plans to build an artificial intelligence (AI) duty civil complaint handling system in collaboration with KT, conduct a pilot operation, and officially operate it from August.
Hwang In-chae, General Affairs Division Chief, said, “Most duty civil complaints are simple inquiries or referrals to other agencies,” and added, “There were various issues such as employees’ work and childcare burdens due to duty work and work gaps caused by duty leave, so we prepared improvement measures.”
