Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Department of Emergency Medical Technology Conducts Maritime Emergency Response Training and Education

Emergency First Aid Training for Namhang Police Substation Staff

The Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology (President Kim Youngdo) conducted emergency treatment education and training for amputee patients at sea for staff members of the Namhang Police Substation of the Busan Maritime Police Department.

This education and training were held a total of three times on May 10, June 4, and June 13. It was organized to strengthen professional knowledge and on-site response capabilities for emergency situations (amputation, fracture, drowning) that may occur at sea.

The training was conducted with Professor Park Youngsoo of the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology and second- and third-year students participating together.

The training, held in the waters near the Namhang Police Substation, began with safety education and was followed by hands-on practice of emergency treatment methods for amputee patients (such as hemostasis and bandaging). The staff members who participated in the training had the opportunity to systematically learn how to respond to various emergency situations and to build confidence through practical exercises.

Kim Gukjeong, head of the Namhang Police Substation, said, "This education and training greatly helped strengthen our staff's emergency response capabilities and establish a system to respond quickly and effectively to various emergencies that may occur at sea."

Park Youngsoo, head of the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology, stated, "On-site emergency care requires the most rapid and accurate response, and for this, practical training through simulated emergency situations along with theoretical education is essential. It was a valuable opportunity for maritime police officers and students to directly experience and learn how to respond in real emergency situations."

The Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology achieved a 100% pass rate for all graduates of February 2024 in the national examination. In addition, with the goal of fostering emergency medical professionals, the department is strengthening major courses tailored to on-site duties for national certification and is working to enhance students’ capabilities by developing curricula with the participation of field experts every year.
