Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest has been selected as Jeollanam-do's recommended tourist destination for July under the theme of "Travel with Rest," where visitors can enjoy meditation and healing programs.
Located on the slopes of Baegunsan Mountain at an altitude of 1,222 meters, Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest is a modern sanctuary equipped with a healing forest, wood culture experience center, plant ecological forest, and a loess trail.
In particular, the Healing Forest is popular for its forest healing programs utilizing the "Baegunsan Healing Forest Center" and the "Healing Forest Trails," which incorporate the Samjeong stories of Baegunsan, featuring the phoenix, pig, and fox.
The Baegunsan Healing Forest Center is a two-story building equipped with a seminar room, health measurement room, meditation and yoga room, healing theme room (foot bath), aromatherapy room, phytoncide caf?, and sunbathing area.
The "Healing Forest Trails" consist of six distinctive courses totaling 10 km, including Pig Dream Trail, Phoenix Rising Trail, and Old Charcoal Kiln Trail, with rest areas for wind bathing and cypress meditation spots scattered throughout.
Forest healing programs conducted by professional forest healing instructors are well-balanced and harmoniously organized with both indoor and outdoor programs tailored to different groups such as youth, families, and office workers.
The Gwangyang Wood Culture Experience Center is a space where visitors can create their own works and reflect on the precious value of wood. It features woodworking experience centers of various skill levels, such as the Camellia Workshop and Plum Blossom Workshop, as well as a Wood Imagination Playground.
Various accommodation facilities established within Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest, including forest houses, auto camping sites, campgrounds, and cabin houses, offer special rest and healing experiences for modern people who value personal taste and romance.
Forest healing programs, the wood culture experience center, and accommodation facilities require advance reservations through the Gwangyang City Hall integrated reservation system, and the center is closed on Mondays. The campground is closed until March next year due to facility improvement construction.
Additionally, the 20-hectare ecological forest and loess trail, where visitors can enjoy various trees and seasonal flowers, are gaining attention as healing spaces that boost immunity and promote health.
Kim Seongsu, Director of Tourism, said, "Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest relieves the stress of modern people tired from busy daily life with the phytoncides and fresh energy emitted by the millennium-old forest, helping to restore physical and mental health. We hope that visitors will spend a cool summer and give themselves time for rest and healing at Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest, which Jeollanam-do has recommended as the tourist destination for July."
