Jeongeup-si, Jeonbuk Province, will hold an administrative notice until the 22nd regarding the operation of the 'Resident Reporting System for Environmentally Friendly Vehicle Charging Obstruction and Parking Violations.'

According to the city on the 2nd, there are currently about 600 electric vehicle charging facilities installed in the area.

Since the crackdown on May 1, 2022, about 30 electric vehicle-related parking reports have been received monthly. However, due to various reporting forms such as complaints without specific time or location and duplicate complaints caused by long-term parking, there has been confusion among citizens.

Accordingly, the city plans to implement the resident reporting system by clarifying the reporting requirements.

The announced reporting method requires at least two photos taken at the same location and direction on-site with an interval of more than one minute through the Safe Report app, including the ground surface confirming the electric vehicle charging zone.

However, complaints about electric vehicles parked for more than 14 hours require three photos: the initial photo, an intermediate photo, and the final photo.

Complaints reported according to the reporting requirements will be fined up to 200,000 KRW without on-site inspection.

The city will administratively announce these details until the 22nd and plans to implement them from the 23rd. For detailed information such as unprocessable reports and exceptions to enforcement, please refer to the official announcement.

Additionally, to actively respond to carbon neutrality and fine dust reduction through the expansion of electric vehicle distribution, the city is striving to build safer and more convenient charging infrastructure than any other city nationwide.

Last year and this year, the city was selected for the Ministry of Environment's electric vehicle charging facility installation project for two consecutive years, securing a budget of 2.6 billion KRW and installing 100 new charging stations to establish a dense and robust charging infrastructure.

In particular, to prepare for the risk of large-scale disasters due to electric vehicle fires in underground parking lots where spaces are enclosed and fire truck access is difficult, the city completed a project to relocate 23 underground chargers from nine apartment complexes to above ground, the first of its kind nationwide.

A city official said, "From the 23rd, fines will also be imposed through resident reports when internal combustion engine vehicles park in eco-friendly vehicle charging zones and exclusive parking spaces. We ask citizens to purchase electric vehicles in Jeongeup, which has safer electric vehicle charging facilities than any other local government, and join in saving the planet."

Meanwhile, the city will invest about 8 billion KRW in the second half of this year to support subsidies for purchasing 487 electric vehicles (225 passenger cars, 262 cargo vehicles).

Passenger cars can receive up to 13.5 million KRW, cargo vehicles (excluding special vehicles) up to 18 million KRW, and vans up to 100 million KRW. For detailed information on electric vehicle support, please refer to the official notices.
