Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the 2nd that the 'Sinwol Lifelong Learning Center,' a technology-specialized educational space, will open on the 4th to promote lifelong education for residents of Sinwol-dong. The opening ceremony will be held on the same day.

The newly created space was transformed into a technology-specialized lifelong learning space by improving the use of community facilities that had been used as shared spaces for residents through a residential environment improvement project. Construction began in March and was completed this time.

The Sinwol Lifelong Learning Center has a total floor area of 398.74㎡ and is a three-story building above ground, with specialized spaces on each floor to operate various technical professional programs such as cooking, gardening, and crafts.

On the first floor, there is a 'Kitchen Room' equipped with professional kitchen facilities such as a sink, cooking refrigerator, coffee machine, oven, and water supply, and a 'Gardening Room' where gardening theory and practical classes can be conducted. The second floor houses 'Craft Rooms 1 and 2,' equipped with sewing machines, material storage cabinets, and professional display stands. The rooftop third floor was newly transformed into a 'Greenhouse Space' through an extension construction, allowing for artwork exhibitions and resident rest and communication.

In particular, to commemorate the opening of the Sinwol Lifelong Learning Center, the district will operate a total of about 30 free one-day classes in four fields: cooking, crafts, gardening, and sewing, free of charge for about two months starting from the 15th of this month. These are composed of technology-specialized programs differentiated from other lifelong learning centers.

The recruitment capacity is about 270 people, with 8 people per course. Residents who wish to take the courses can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the Yangcheon-gu Lifelong Learning Portal starting from the 8th of this month.

After the one-day classes end, the district plans to operate regular courses from September. The regular curriculum includes ▲Korean cuisine cooking technician, rice cake manufacturing technician ▲basic landscaping, home fashion ▲leather crafts, French embroidery ▲pet and air-purifying plant practice, and is composed of customized professional education and certification courses based on various lifestyle demands.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, "Through the Sinwol Lifelong Learning Center, a technology-specialized educational facility, we will provide residents with opportunities for self-development and to cultivate various technical skills."
