According to the business community on the 2nd, Chairman Lee visited Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Suwon plant on the 21st of last month and received reports on the status of new business development from Samsung Electro-Mechanics President Jang Deok-hyun and others. This was his first visit in 1 year and 3 months since visiting the Tianjin plant in China in March last year.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics is accelerating the development of new business technologies such as solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) technology, a core technology for eco-friendly green hydrogen, hybrid lenses for glass substrates and automotive cameras, and small all-solid-state batteries. Earlier, President Jang announced the 'Mi-RAE Project' at CES 2024, the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, earlier this year. The project aims to improve the business structure focusing on future industries such as automotive electronics, robotics, AI and servers, and energy.

Chairman Lee reportedly held a meeting with about 10 employees from the new business development team. During the meeting, he engaged in a warm and friendly atmosphere, asking questions such as "How many pixels does the human eye have?" and encouraged the employees by saying, "Succeed in new business development," and "I wish success to Samsung Electro-Mechanics."

Samsung Electro-Mechanics conducts research and development and raw material production at its Suwon and Busan plants, while operating its Tianjin and Philippines production subsidiaries as mass production bases. Chairman Lee visited the Busan plant of Samsung Electro-Mechanics in 2020 and 2022 to inspect the production site of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and urged proactive measures to secure future markets such as automotive MLCCs.

Chairman Lee took selfies with employees while linking arms or making heart gestures, and during the meeting, he shared his impressions from the US trip, mentioning that the world is changing.

From May 31st, he toured the East and West coasts of the United States for two weeks, meeting with major CEOs in AI, semiconductor, and IT sectors such as Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, and Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO, to strengthen global networks and concretize future business strategies.

Last week, he also visited the R&D center in Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, and toured the design center.
