Mr. A is accused of attempting to sexually assault his ex-girlfriend, Ms. B, at her residence in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 10th of last month, and assaulting her when she resisted. According to MBC, Mr. A and Ms. B had broken up in March, but on the day of the incident, Mr. A approached Ms. B saying, "I left some clothes at your place," then followed her into her home and demanded sexual intercourse. When she refused, he assaulted her. It was also reported that when Ms. B called the police, Mr. A threw her mobile phone several times, damaging it.

The home camera footage released by MBC that day shows Mr. A, naked, hitting Ms. B multiple times, choking her, threatening her, and dragging her around despite her cries of pain, without stopping the assault. Eventually, Ms. B fled to the bathroom and called the police, but by then Mr. A, now dressed, broke down the door and continued the assault. After leaving the woman’s house, Mr. A sent a text message saying, "I think I heard you screaming, but I hope nothing serious happened," as if distancing himself from the incident.

The victim, Ms. B, was diagnosed with facial subcutaneous hemorrhage and concussion from the incident and reportedly received psychiatric treatment. Ms. B’s lawyer told MBC, "This is a case where the perpetrator, enraged by the refusal of sexual intercourse, caused injury to the victim," adding, "Regardless of their past relationship, the crime of rape and injury is established."

The team where Mr. A worked as a coach stated, "His contract expired in May, and while discussing whether to renew it, we suddenly lost contact." Mr. A’s personal agency reportedly said, "This is the first time we are hearing about this," and "We do not know much about the matter."
