Shin Jong-woo, Deputy Mayor of Nowon-gu, Inaugurated on the 1st... "I Will Work Together to Be Helpful to Employees"

The inauguration ceremony of Shin Jong-woo, the new Deputy Mayor of Nowon District, was held on the 1st at the small auditorium of Nowon District Office in Seoul.

Deputy Mayor Shin Jong-woo graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Public Administration and entered public service in 1995 through the 38th Administrative High Examination. He is an experienced administrator who has served as Auditor, Civil Complaints Investigation Officer, Bus Policy Director at the Urban Transportation Headquarters, Finance Director at the Finance Bureau, and General Affairs Director at the Administration Bureau in Seoul City.

After being promoted to Local Deputy Director in 2019, he served as Economic Job Planning Officer at the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Economic Policy Office and was appointed Deputy Mayor of Eunpyeong District in 2023.

Subsequently, on July 1 of this year, he was promoted to Director (Level 2) and inaugurated as Deputy Mayor of Nowon District.

While working in Eunpyeong District, Deputy Mayor Shin demonstrated outstanding administrative skills and drive by swiftly responding to the issue of lease fraud through the formation of a task force (TF). He is also highly regarded for his candid communication leadership with staff, earning strong trust from those around him.

The district expects Deputy Mayor Shin’s extensive experience working in Seoul City and his tenure as Deputy Mayor of Eunpyeong District to be a great driving force for projects shaping Nowon’s 100-year future, such as redevelopment and reconstruction, the creation of a bio-complex, and the development of the Kwangwoon University station area.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok and staff, and proceeded in the order of ▲Opening and National Anthem ▲Introduction of Deputy Mayor’s Career ▲Inaugural Address ▲Presentation of Bouquet ▲Welcome Speech by Mayor Oh Seung-rok ▲Commemorative Photo ▲Closing and Staff Greetings.

Deputy Mayor Shin said, “I am grateful to Mayor Oh Seung-rok for giving me the opportunity to work anew in Nowon, and I warmly greet all the staff. At this important time when the cooperation between the city and district is crucial in the process of realizing the ‘Nowon Renaissance Era’ from the ‘Gangbuk Renaissance Era’ plan announced by Seoul City, I will work together and think together so that my long experience working in Seoul City can be helpful to frontline staff in each business department,” expressing his inauguration thoughts.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I welcome Deputy Mayor Shin Jong-woo, who has proven his capabilities over 30 years in Seoul City and autonomous districts. I expect him to play a central role in creating a healthy and developing Nowon through communication with staff, residents, and related organizations.”
