Establishing a System for Supporting Youth Growth through Public-Private-Academic Cooperation in Geumcheon-gu
Discussion on Sharing Youth Living Conditions and Crisis Status in Geumcheon-gu and Policy Improvement Measures
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that on July 4th at 2 PM, the ‘Geumcheon-gu Youth Growth Support Council Launch Ceremony’ and ‘Youth Policy Improvement Forum’ will be held in the 12th-floor auditorium of Geumcheon-gu Office.
The ‘Geumcheon-gu Youth Growth Support Council’ is a community-based youth growth support platform that strengthens cooperation among youth-related organizations in the region to support the safe and healthy growth of young people.
The council is chaired by Mayor Yu Seong-hoon and consists of 25 members including Councilor Go Seong-mi, representatives from local schools, parent representatives, youth center directors, youth, and officials from Geumcheon Police Station.
The event will be held in two parts: Part 1 ‘Youth Growth Support Council Launch Ceremony’ and Part 2 ‘Youth Growth Support Forum’.
In Part 1, after an introduction to youth growth support projects by district officials, there will be a commemorative session for the launch of the council.
In Part 2, the results of the Geumcheon-gu youth survey will be shared, and experts from various fields will discuss ways to improve youth policies.
Following presentations on the research results of youth living conditions and crisis status in Geumcheon-gu by participating professors, as well as youth policy proposals, a discussion will take place.
The discussion will cover seven subtopics: the beginning of change created together, the influence of SNS (social networking services) and youth voices, balanced growth support measures, voices of out-of-school youth, the community’s collective effort to raise a child, parents’ opinions on youth emotions and growth support, and growing together with youth waiting on ‘a certain street’ on the road.
Experts in youth activities, youth welfare, and youth protection, along with youth and parents, will participate in the discussion to explore ways to improve youth policies in Geumcheon-gu.
The district plans to reflect the contents discussed in the youth survey and forum in next year’s youth policy formulation.
Any parent or youth residing in the area can participate by applying through a Google Form, and participation is also possible via live broadcast on YouTube. Detailed information can be found on the Geumcheon-gu Office website under ‘Geumcheon News’.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, “We expect the launch ceremony and forum of the Geumcheon-gu Youth Growth Support Council to be an opportunity for the public, private, and academic sectors to come together and unite their efforts for the healthy growth of youth,” and added, “We will actively reflect the improvements discovered and proposed at the forum in our district’s youth policies.”
