On the same day, after being briefed on the vehicle ramming incident near Seoul City Hall, President Yoon gave an urgent directive to the Minister of the Interior and Safety and the Fire Commissioner to "make every effort to rescue and treat the victims," the presidential office spokesperson Kim Soo-kyung conveyed in a written briefing.

According to the police and fire authorities, at around 9:27 p.m. that day, a vehicle rammed onto the sidewalk at an intersection near Seoul City Hall Station, resulting in 6 deaths and 8 injuries. Among the 8 injured, 3 were in cardiac arrest, indicating the possibility of the death toll rising.

The police apprehended the driver, a man in his 70s, at the scene, and it is understood that he claims sudden unintended acceleration.
