Ulleung County Council Elects Lee Sangsik as Chair and Han Jongin as Vice Chair for Second Half of Term

On the 1st, the Ulleung County Council in North Gyeongsang Province held the 1st plenary session of a special meeting and elected the leadership for the latter half of the 9th council.


The Ulleung County Council consists of seven members, and at 11 a.m. on this day, elections for the chairperson and vice-chairperson were held. According to Article 8 of the ‘Ulleung County Council Meeting Rules,’ the election is conducted by anonymous ballot, and a candidate is elected with the attendance of a majority of all members and a majority of votes from those present.

Lee Sangsik (People Power Party) was elected as chairperson, and Han Jongin (People Power Party) was re-elected as vice-chairperson.


In his acceptance speech, Lee Sangsik stated, “With the shared goal of Ulleung’s development and the happiness of our residents, I will cooperate and work together with the executive branch to create a council that is close to the people and focused on their livelihoods.”


Han Jongin, who was elected as vice-chairperson, said, “I will faithfully serve as a bridge among fellow council members and do my utmost to strengthen the council’s status and promote the development of local autonomy.”


The leadership of the latter half of the 9th Ulleung County Council will serve from July 1, 2024, to June 2026.
