Horse Transport Vehicle Overturns... Traffic Congestion in the Area
Safety Measures Completed Within an Hour
In Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, a commotion occurred when four horses escaped from a vehicle transporting them and roamed the road after the vehicle overturned.
On the 1st, Yonhap News reported that at around 4:57 p.m. on the same day, a 4.5-ton Mighty truck carrying four horses overturned on a four-lane road in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the transport vehicle, Mr. A, in his 40s, sustained minor injuries. However, all the horses that were in the transport compartment got out of the vehicle and wandered on the road. As the horses roamed the road, temporary congestion such as traffic jams occurred on the surrounding roads.

The dispatched police and fire authorities controlled the vehicle and captured and confined the horses wandering on the road, completing all safety measures by around 6 p.m. on the same day, one hour after the accident occurred. The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident with Mr. A.
Earlier last month, there were two incidents where cattle raised on farms escaped from barns and roamed the roads.
The Chungnam Fire Headquarters received a report at around 12:10 a.m. on June 22 that about ten dairy cows had escaped from a farm near Pungse-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungnam Province. The informant reportedly told 119, "About ten spotted cows are wandering on the road." Since it was late at night and visibility was poor, the dairy cows roaming the road caused inconvenience to drivers passing through the area, who had to stop or slow down. The 119 rescue team that responded took safety measures, and after about 40 minutes, the owner of the spotted cows found the escaped dairy cows and brought them back to the farm, concluding the situation.
Earlier, on June 4, about 20 cattle ran on the road in Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk Province. The cattle escaped from the barn and roamed the road at around 1:20 a.m. that day. Fortunately, there were few vehicles passing through the area at the time, so no secondary accidents occurred. The fire and police departments that received the report rounded up all the cattle and handed them over to the owner at around 3 a.m. on the same day.
