Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Launches 'Youth Happy Rental Housing' with 10,000 Won Monthly Rent... 9 Units to Open in August

Refrigerator, Air Conditioner, and Washing Machine Provided
42-49㎡... Up to 4 Years of Residency Possible

Goryeong County (Governor Lee Namcheol) announced on the 1st that it has recently completed accepting applications for the ‘Goryeong County Youth Happy Rental Housing’ program, which aims to improve settlement conditions and realize housing welfare for young people and newlyweds. The county will begin full-scale screening and room allocation for the selection of tenants, with move-ins starting in August.

The Youth Happy Rental Housing consists of nine units (three units of 49.11㎡ and six units of 42.51㎡). Each unit is equipped with a refrigerator, air conditioner, and washing machine, and offers an exceptionally affordable monthly rent of 10,000 KRW (with a separate deposit of 880,000 KRW), which is much lower than the market rate. Tenants can reside for up to four years.

As a result of Goryeong County's proactive efforts to stabilize youth housing and the pre-opening of the rental units for tenant convenience, 44 people applied for the nine available units (two for priority supply, seven for general supply). There were three applicants for priority supply (including people with disabilities and newlyweds with children under four) and 41 for general supply, resulting in a competition rate close to 6:1. This reflects the strong interest and enthusiasm of young people for the Goryeong County Youth Happy Rental Housing program.

In particular, the eligibility criteria were expanded beyond just young residents of Goryeong County (ages 18?45) to include young people from outside the area who can move in immediately. This drew many inquiries and interest from youth in neighboring regions and served as an opportunity to showcase Goryeong County’s commitment to its goals of a younger and more dynamic county administration.

Lee Namcheol, Governor of Goryeong County, stated, “I hope that the Youth Happy Rental Housing will become a reliable home for young people struggling to secure stable housing. We will continue to implement a variety of policies so that young people can pursue their dreams, and we will advance a county administration that supports the lives of our youth.”
