Governor Kim: "Myeongji General Hospital Payment Unpaid... Let's Build the Hospital with the Province"

Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, and the newly appointed leadership of the 12th Chungnam Provincial Council's second half term have agreed on the construction of Naepo General Hospital.
At a meeting with the newly elected leadership of the 12th second half term on the 1st, Governor Kim proposed regarding the unpaid payment issue of Myeongji General Hospital, "The payment deadline has currently been extended. (If there continues to be no willingness) let's build a new general hospital at the provincial level."
He added, "If we build Myeongji Hospital, according to the ordinance, 70% of the facility cost will be supported," and said, "With that budget, the province can build a general hospital and have it operated by a major hospital, so people won't have to travel far to Seoul or Cheonan, and people from other regions will come to Naepo."
He further stated, "If we decide and proceed with the construction by the end of this year, let's include the hospital construction cost in next year's budget."
According to the province, the Myeongji Medical Foundation purchased the hospital site from Chungnam Development Corporation in May 2022 for 35.585 billion KRW. The foundation agreed to pay the amount in seven installments of 5.3 billion KRW each, but recently, due to worsening management conditions, they have failed to pay the fourth installment and have requested a delay.
In response, the leadership voiced support, saying, "That would be better."
Meanwhile, the Chungnam Provincial Council held the 1st plenary session of the 353rd extraordinary meeting on the same day and elected Hong Seong-hyun (People Power Party, Cheonan 1) as the chairperson for the second half term, Jeong Gwang-seop (People Power Party, Taean 2) as the 1st vice-chairperson, and Oh In-cheol (Democratic Party, Cheonan 7) as the 2nd vice-chairperson.
The council plans to elect the chairpersons of each standing committee and complete the organizational structure on the 2nd and 3rd.
