Dongmyung University and Silla University Alliance-Busan Alliance Technology Holdings Join Hands to Promote University Technology Startups

The Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Tongmyong University (Director: Lee Kisoo) and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Silla University (Director: Choi Insun), currently preparing for the Ministry of Education's "Glocal University 30" project, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Busan United Holdings (CEO: Park Hoonki, BUH) at Tongmyong University on June 26 to promote technology startups and innovate the regional industrial ecosystem.

Dongmyung University and Silla University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Busan United Technology Holdings signed a business agreement to revitalize technology startups and innovate the regional industrial ecosystem.

This agreement aims to foster mutual growth between the region and universities, and to establish a full-cycle support system for technology commercialization, positioning the Tongmyong-Silla University Alliance as a hub for regional innovation.

The agreement supports the alliance university in becoming a hub of regional innovation, with BUH's University Technology Commercialization Office at its core. It will serve as a bridgehead for technology startup investment at the university level and establish an investment platform for university startups, professors, and student entrepreneurs.

In particular, the alliance will strengthen pre-startup education for local universities with limited commercialization experience and provide comprehensive entrepreneurship training through customized seminars, covering topics such as entrepreneurial mindset, business models, and fundraising. By aligning the university’s own research direction with commercialization, competitiveness will be enhanced.

A variety of programs will be provided to strengthen the capabilities of university staff and key innovation players. University practitioners from the alliance will participate in major investment processes, including preliminary reviews, investment review committees, and post-management committees, to gain practical investment experience. A comprehensive support system will be established for the growth of faculty and student startup companies, including funding support as well as sales and marketing assistance.

The alliance will also help successfully commercialize research and development outcomes and establish processes for productization and mass production.

Through the university-centered Value-up program, the alliance aims to foster locally-rooted talent and build a collaborative ecosystem among local industry, academia, and research institutes. Plans are in place to collaborate on joint funding in the fields of future mobility and future well-life.

This agreement is expected to drive the success of university technology startups and the innovation of the regional industrial ecosystem.
