Choi Dae-won Elected as Speaker for the Second Half, Jo Hyun-ok as Deputy Speaker
Choi Dae-won was elected as the chairman and Jo Hyun-ok as the vice chairman of the 9th Gwangyang City Council's second half. Their terms will begin on July 1 and last for two years.
On the 1st, during the 1st plenary session of the 329th extraordinary meeting of the Gwangyang City Council, the election for the chairmanship was held. Choi Dae-won was elected chairman with 12 out of 14 votes, and Jo Hyun-ok was elected vice chairman with 13 out of 14 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Choi said, "The Gwangyang City Council feels a heavy responsibility and sense of mission with the thought of 'what and how to do for the happiness of the citizens.' I will deeply cherish the trust and confidence each council member has given me and do my best to make the Gwangyang City Council meet the expectations of the citizens."
Chairman Choi previously served as the chairman of the General Affairs Committee in the second half of the 8th City Council and was active as the chairman of the Industry and Construction Committee in the first half of the 9th City Council.
Vice Chairman Jo Hyun-ok, in her acceptance speech, stated, "Based on my experience in legislative activities so far, I will listen carefully to what the citizens want and strive for citizen welfare and regional development."
Vice Chairman Jo served as the chairman of the Industry and Construction Committee in the first half of the 8th City Council and was the chairman of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee in the 8th and 9th City Councils.
Meanwhile, the Gwangyang City Council plans to hold the 2nd plenary session of the 329th extraordinary meeting on July 2 to elect the chairpersons of each standing committee and complete the organization for the second half.
