In the history of Incheon subway, six people were injured when a woman in her 70s fell backward while riding an escalator.


On the 1st, Yonhap News reported that at around 10:33 a.m. the previous day, a woman in her 70s, identified as A, fell on an escalator at Seokbawi Market Station on Incheon Subway Line 2 in Michuhol-gu.

As a result of the accident, passengers behind her fell one after another, and six people including A were injured and transported to the hospital. Fortunately, all of them are reported to be in stable condition without life-threatening injuries.


It is understood that A lost her balance and fell while trying to catch an umbrella she dropped while moving from the platform to the concourse on the escalator.


Meanwhile, the police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and witness statements at the scene.
