Ro&Company Launches Interactive Legal AI Assistant 'SuperLawyer'

SuperLawyer is a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) implemented with multiple commercial large language models (LLMs) based on an architecture independently designed by Ro&Company. The main skills of SuperLawyer include legal research, drafting, document summarization, document-based conversation, and case-based conversation.

All skills operate in a chat format. It can perform various legal tasks such as searching for precedents on specific issues like “Find precedents where a camper van or vehicle was not considered an object of the crime of trespassing in a residential intrusion case, resulting in a not guilty verdict,” drafting a response to an attached complaint, or summarizing the core contents of an attached preparatory document.

An Gi-sun, head of Ro&Company’s Legal AI Research Institute and the overall developer of SuperLawyer, explained, “Since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the potential of generative AI in the legal field has been globally recognized. Through SuperLawyer, we aim to enter the fierce global competition and open a new horizon for legal AI.”

SuperLawyer utilizes a vast amount of data for generating responses, including 4.58 million precedent cases owned by Ro&Company, statutes, administrative regulations, authoritative interpretations, decisions, and other public domain materials. In particular, it enhances speed and accuracy by employing the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) method. Considering lawyers’ work efficiency, source materials are also provided in the form of hyperlinks.

A Ro&Company official stated, “One distinctive feature is the establishment of a ‘fact checker’ that verifies whether the information is based on reliable data before providing the final answer, minimizing hallucinations. In this process, Ro&Company has filed three patents related to preventing false information generation, and the ultimate goal is to achieve 0% hallucination through continuous technological advancement.”

Additionally, Ro&Company signed an exclusive supply contract with ‘Bakyoungsa,’ a specialized legal book publisher, securing 1,350 titles and 1 million pages of legal content. Bakyoungsa’s data will be incorporated into SuperLawyer AI’s learning process and used in responses.

SuperLawyer is provided to legal professionals qualified as lawyers. Anyone belonging to law firms, legal offices, or corporate legal teams can use it free of charge throughout July by registering as a SuperLawyer member.

Kim Bon-hwan, CEO of Ro&Company, emphasized, “SuperLawyer is a high-performance legal AI assistant that will dramatically improve the work efficiency of law firms and corporate legal teams. With differentiated AI technology, we want to lead the domestic legal AI market and continuously contribute to the innovation and convenience of lawyers’ legal work.”
