Park Jung-hoon "At the time of Park's impeachment, Won Hee-ryong left the party, rumors of joining the Democratic Party... Who is the real traitor?"

"'Betrayal' Word Is Completely Ruining Jeondae"

As the 'traitor' frame surrounding Han Dong-hoon, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, gained prominence, Park Jung-hoon, the party's Supreme Council candidate, raised his voice, saying, "The party convention, which should be a celebration, is being ruined by the word 'betrayal'."

Park, who is Han's running mate, appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' on the 1st and said, "The word 'betrayal' is a very provocative term because it makes a person's character appear very deficient."

Park Jung-hoon "At the time of Park's impeachment, Won Hee-ryong left the party, rumors of joining the Democratic Party... Who is the real traitor?"

Park pointed out, "From the perspective of the centrist voters, they might think, 'Are they really having a family feud like that?'" and added, "A word that should not have appeared has appeared."

Recently, candidates for the People Power Party leadership have been attacking Han with the so-called 'Han Dong-hoon traitor theory,' claiming that President Yoon Seok-yeol and Han have split. In particular, Won Hee-ryong, a candidate for the party presidency, has been emphasizing the 'politics of betrayal' frame with remarks such as, "Han Dong-hoon lacks communication, trust, and experience," and "How can someone who betrays human relationships overnight, betrays party members, and causes conflicts between the party and government talk about trust?"

In response, Park criticized, "They are focusing on the fact that Han was a non-standing committee chairman during the general election and had a somewhat uncomfortable relationship with the president to create a 'betrayal image' among party members." He continued, "Won Hee-ryong, the People Power Party presidential candidate, talks about this (the Han Dong-hoon traitor theory) the most, but Won supported the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye and later left the party. He even said later that 'if the intentions align, I could go to the Democratic Party.' Isn't that betraying the party?"

Furthermore, Park said, "It is true that there is public opinion that while the Yoon Seok-yeol administration has done well and pursues the right direction, some methods or directions have issues that need correction, and Han intends to play that role. This cannot be considered betrayal," adding, "If he coordinates well with the president behind the scenes, such noise will not arise significantly. I will play a good intermediary role so that the party and government can become one."
