Night Inspections Conducted at 78 Vulnerable Areas
Geochang County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 1st that it conducted nighttime inspections at 78 locations, including areas vulnerable to illegal dumping of household waste, from March to June this year.
This inspection was carried out to monitor illegal dumping and unauthorized incineration during nighttime hours when household waste is disposed of, and to create a pleasant living environment in Geochang County.
Geochang County is conducting joint nighttime inspections of vulnerable areas for illegal dumping of household waste with private organizations.
Not only did the Environmental Department of Geochang County and the towns and townships conduct their own inspections, but joint inspections were also carried out with private organizations to raise public awareness and encourage continuous nighttime monitoring activities to eradicate illegal dumping.
During the inspections, areas with insufficient waste separation were immediately organized on-site, and nearby businesses were visited to provide guidance, promote proper household waste separation methods, and conduct educational activities.
Kim Seongnam, head of the Environmental Department, stated, "It is true that our residents' awareness of household waste separation has greatly improved, but illegal dumping of household waste still occurs. We plan to continue promotional and inspection activities to further raise environmental awareness among residents, so we ask for your continued interest and participation."
