Selected by UK 'Drinks International' as
World's Best-Selling Distilled Spirit No.1
HiteJinro's soju brand 'Jinro (JINRO)' has ranked first as the world's best-selling distilled spirit for 23 consecutive years.
HiteJinro announced on the 1st that Jinro was ranked first in the 'World's Best-Selling Distilled Spirits' selected by the UK liquor specialty media 'Drink International.'
HiteJinro's soju sold 97.4 million cases worldwide last year (based on 9ℓ per case), which is equivalent to selling 77 bottles per second. Despite the global economic recession and inflation causing sales declines for most major distilled spirit brands worldwide, Jinro has maintained its number one position since 2001 without ever relinquishing the top spot. Jinro's sales last year were more than three times higher than the second-ranked Philippine distilled spirit brand and about twice as much as the combined sales of major Scotch whisky brands.
HiteJinro currently exports soju products to about 80 countries and has expanded its priority target countries from just 8 to 17, continuously strengthening its global activities. Expanding entry into overseas local home channels, participating in festivals, and enhancing sports marketing and other various global activities have been effective in increasing product accessibility, brand awareness, and local consumption rates.
Recently, HiteJinro declared 'Jinro Popularization' as part of its 'Global Vision 2030,' setting a goal to achieve 500 billion KRW in overseas soju sales by 2030. The strategy is to leverage Jinro, the world's number one global distilled spirit brand, to leap forward as a global comprehensive liquor company.
Hwang Jeong-ho, Executive Director of HiteJinro's Overseas Business Division, stated, "Jinro has achieved the global number one distilled spirit sales for 23 consecutive years, raising the status of K-soju as a national representative worldwide," and added, "We will strengthen our position as a popular liquor brand that goes beyond representing Korean soju to become part of the daily lives of people around the world."
