BPA Successfully Hosts 'Busan Port Logistics Seminar in Europe'

Supporting Logistics Competitiveness of Korean Companies Entering Germany and Hungary

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) successfully held the ‘Busan Port Logistics Seminar in Europe’ for Korean companies operating in Europe on the 25th and 27th of last month, in Frankfurt, Germany and Budapest, Hungary, respectively.

At the seminar held in Germany on the 25th, about 40 representatives from Korean companies such as Samsung SDS, Lotte Global Logistics, CJ, and Taewoong Logistics attended.

BPA gave presentations on the current status of overseas business in Europe and various support measures for Korean small and medium-sized enterprises. The Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Port of Barcelona Authority explained the latest logistics trends at major ports in Western and Eastern Europe, as well as support measures for Korean export companies.

At the seminar held in Hungary on the 27th, about 50 representatives from Korean export companies, including Hyundai Motor, as well as manufacturers of automotive parts, electric vehicle batteries, and chemical products, attended and showed great interest in the Hungarian investment environment and support measures for Korean companies, as presented by the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency.

Korean companies attending the seminar agreed that it was a meaningful opportunity to directly hear the latest logistics trends from local port authorities operating gateway ports in Europe and to learn about support systems provided by each country for foreign export companies.

BPA and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries also held separate meetings with the companies to listen to their difficulties and suggestions for the Korean government and port authorities, and to exchange opinions.

Jin Kyooho, Head of BPA’s Management Division, said, “After three years of operating logistics centers in Rotterdam and Barcelona, we held a seminar for our companies locally for the first time and listened to a variety of voices,” adding, “We will prepare multifaceted support measures to facilitate the overseas expansion of Korean export companies.”
