Hyundai Motor Company, together with Sejong City, is introducing a new mobility service that integrates various public transportation modes based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Through this app, users can access demand-responsive buses as well as bicycles, kickboards, and taxis.
On the 1st, Hyundai announced that it will newly launch 'Ieung,' an integrated transportation service app based on the demand-responsive transportation (DRT) platform 'SHUCLE' in Sejong City.
Ieung is an integrated transportation service designed to help citizens using public transportation move quickly and conveniently. Hyundai expanded its existing demand-responsive transportation service, SHUCLE, to fit Sejong City's transportation infrastructure and demand.
While the existing SHUCLE platform only allowed users to call demand-responsive buses, the Ieung app enables users to access not only bus calls but also bicycles, kickboards, and taxis. Users can integrate various mobility services in Sejong City through a single app without needing to install multiple service apps.

Born from Hyundai's AI technology, the 'Ieung Bus' generates optimal travel routes in real time according to passenger demand. When passengers with similar routes book at the same time, the system automatically creates detour routes and allows ride-sharing.
Additionally, Hyundai, in collaboration with Sejong City, will introduce the 'Ieung Pass' transportation pass starting in September. The Ieung Pass is a monthly subscription public transportation pass available within the Ieung app service. Subscribers pay a monthly fee of 20,000 KRW and can receive support for public transportation expenses up to 50,000 KRW.
With the launch of the Ieung service, Hyundai announced that it will conclude the pilot service of SHUCLE conducted in Sejong City and enter the full-scale commercialization phase of the integrated Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform.
Hyundai's SHUCLE platform has carried a total of 1.63 million cumulative passengers over the past three years in Sejong's 1st and 2nd residential zones. Furthermore, it currently operates 214 demand-responsive service vehicles across 18 regions, including Sejong City, recording over 4.96 million cumulative passengers. It is recognized for leading solutions to public transportation issues in various areas such as new towns, rural areas, industrial complexes, and urban-rural mixed regions.
Kim Soo-young, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor's SHUCLE Business Division, said, "Based on the operational experience of SHUCLE with Sejong City citizens since 2021, we have newly provided a customized mobility solution for Sejong City. We will continue to collaborate with more local governments to enhance voucher and pass functions and strive to revitalize public transportation."
