Suwon City to Establish Nation's First 'Generative AI Welfare Service'

Suwon City to Establish Nation's First 'Generative AI Welfare Service' Suwon City Provides Welfare Consultation Services to Civil Petitioners Using AI.

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is building a system that uses ultra-large artificial intelligence (AI) to provide welfare consultation services to civil petitioners.

On the 1st, Suwon City announced that its project, "Improvement of Welfare Civil Service Using Ultra-Large AI Models," was selected in the Ministry of Science and ICT’s “2024 AI Agile-Based DPG Innovation Service Development Support” contest, and that it will jointly carry out the project with the Korea Intelligent Information Society Agency and LifeLog Co., Ltd. by December.

This project, applying the Agile development methodology, will provide services immediately to users, operate them first, and then improve the system tailored to user needs by reflecting their feedback.

The Agile development methodology refers to gradually updating software by quickly responding whenever customer requirements change.

By training an ultra-large AI language model with vast welfare-related data such as welfare work manuals, public welfare data, the Bokjiro service, and welfare-related laws, ordinances, and guidelines, AI welfare consultation services will be provided to civil petitioners on the Suwon City website.

The main services include ▲ Welfare Civil Service AI Search (on the Suwon City website) ▲ Additional consultation linked to the call center based on AI search content ▲ Implementation of AI welfare assistants for public officials through learning welfare work guidelines.

Complex and frequently changing welfare-related consultations will be provided through a natural language-based generative AI search service, helping civil petitioners find information easily and quickly.

A Suwon City official stated, "This will be the nation’s first case of building a generative AI welfare service," and added, "We will continue to promote the introduction of advanced technologies and innovation by expanding the scope to other tasks in the future."
