Remaining Term Challenges Include Addressing Inequality
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, marking a turning point in the 8th term of the civil administration, highlighted the city’s achievements such as the Guaranteed Income, Seoul Run, and Climate Companion Card. Mayor Oh stated that during the remaining two years of his term, he will continue to contribute to the 'Everyday Revolution' that transforms daily life through policy.
On the morning of the 1st, Mayor Oh held a press conference at Seoul City Hall to mark his 2nd anniversary in office, saying, "What was once distant and special for some has become an everyday experience. I promise that the next two years will be filled with even more astonishing changes in daily life."

He then introduced how Seoul has changed citizens’ lives through the Everyday Revolution. He said, "Changing people’s lives is not about massive projects or facilities, but about software innovation that anyone can enjoy equally, anywhere, every day. The dawn autonomous bus, which combines cutting-edge technology with support for the vulnerable, embodies the philosophy of Seoul’s administration as an 'Everyday Revolution.'"
He continued, "When empathy and sincerity that read people’s hearts meet in detail, policies change and inspire. This is why million-seller successes like the Climate Companion Card, Wrist Doctor 9988, and Seoul International Garden Expo have been created," he added.
He emphasized that he will continue to promote policies that transform daily life during the remaining term. As a solution to 'inequality,' Mayor Oh introduced, "We will reduce not only income and regional gaps but also disparities in education, leisure, culture, and health to ensure no discrimination in enjoying everyday happiness. The Guaranteed Income, which boosts work motivation, and the advanced Seoul Run will establish a standard for sustainable welfare." He also announced plans to actively promote the 'Next Local' project linking local resources with Seoul’s young entrepreneurs, and the 'Gold City' project, a Seoul-local win-win circular housing initiative.
Starting from this day, he mentioned innovations in the transportation system for climate and vulnerable groups, led by the Climate Companion Card project. Mayor Oh said, "We will expand autonomous buses for those who have difficulty commuting at dawn and late night, and introduce inclined transportation for pedestrians in high-altitude areas. The 'Seoul Smart Life Week' to be held this October will be a stage to showcase Seoul as a city where future technology embraces the value of companionship to the world."
As a top priority solution to low birth rates, Mayor Oh pointed to housing stability for newlyweds and promised to supply 'record-breaking quantities' of long-term rental housing with housing security.
Mayor Oh said, "If this Everyday Revolution can change the life of each individual, that is the reason I engage in politics. I will continue to do my best to carry on Seoul’s Everyday Revolution, taking both encouragement and criticism from Seoul citizens as milestones."
