LG Electronics announced on the 1st that it will officially launch the 'Robot Subscription Service (RaaS·Robot as a Service)' starting this month. Customers can subscribe to use the empathetic intelligence 'CLOi ServeBot' in spaces such as retail stores, hotels, hospitals, and restaurants.

LG Electronics identified that corporate customers feel burdened by the initial purchase cost of service robots and product management and inspection. They determined that CLOi robot subscriptions could solve these pain points for corporate customers.

Every six months, an LG Electronics Care Solution manager conducts professional management and services including ▲product status checks such as automatic detection systems, distance detection sensors, and motors ▲regular inspections of power switches, charging terminals, robot wheel operations, and exterior damage ▲cleaning of screens, cameras, and shelf covers.

The LG CLOi ServeBot applies independent suspension to its six wheels. It is designed to prevent soup from spilling due to sudden stops, rapid starts, or vibrations. LiDAR sensors and 3D cameras recognize the space and avoid obstacles within the store. The height-adjustable shelf can hold up to 40kg of tableware.

The 'TuiiBot,' developed by an LG Electronics in-house venture, is also introduced as a subscription service. TuiiBot is a robot for frying food. The subscription contract period for LG CLOi ServeBot and TuiiBot is three years. The monthly subscription fees are 660,000 KRW and 1,400,000 KRW, respectively.

LG Electronics currently operates 22 types of subscription service products. Following home appliances such as water purifiers, refrigerators, washing machines, as well as TVs and laptops, it has introduced AI robot services.

LG Electronics plans to expand services by increasing the types of subscription robots. According to the Korea Robot Industry Association, the domestic service robot market was approximately 1 trillion KRW in 2022, growing about 10% compared to the previous year. According to LG Electronics Newsroom, sales from the home appliance subscription business nearly reached 1 trillion KRW last year, growing more than 30% year-on-year. It recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27% over the past five years.

Lee Sung-jin, head of subscription sales at LG Electronics, said, "In line with the subscription economy trend, we will continue to strengthen our services so that more customers can experience LG’s differentiated robot solutions."
