Busan City will open the Sinpyeongjangnim Gymnasium (Hasinbeonyeong-ro, Saha-gu) on the 1st.
The 'Sinpyeongjangnim Gymnasium' was built to expand convenience facilities that can be used by both workers and citizens within the Western Busan Smart Valley (formerly Sinpyeong-Jangnim Industrial Complex).
The construction began after being selected in 2018 for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public gymnasium project for industrial complexes, and started in February 2022, with completion in December last year.
The total construction cost was 12.5 billion KRW, and the building consists of one basement floor and two above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,165 square meters.
The first floor of the gymnasium houses a swimming pool (4 lanes), a children's pool, shower and changing rooms, and a locker room, while the second floor features a fitness room and a multipurpose sports space.
The gymnasium programs include swimming, children's swimming, aqua aerobics, and fitness, and will be operated by the City Sports Association for three years.
Membership recruitment for program participation was completed on the 20th and 21st of last month.
The gymnasium is open to everyone. However, it will be closed on Sundays and public holidays.

The city expects that Sinpyeongjangnim Gymnasium will provide opportunities for leisure activities that promote a healthy lifestyle for Saha-gu residents and serve as a hub for community sports facilities.
Additionally, it is expected to contribute to enhancing the image of the Sinpyeongjangnim Industrial Complex.
The opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on the 2nd at Sinpyeongjangnim Gymnasium. There will be a pre-ceremony performance (cheerleading gymnastics), a ribbon-cutting, and a progress report.
About 100 people are expected to attend, including Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Lee Joonseung, National Assembly members Cho Kyungtae and Lee Seongkwon, Busan City Sports Association President Jang Inhwa, Saha-gu Mayor Lee Gapjun, city council members, and local residents.
Vice Mayor Lee Joonseung said, "Sinpyeongjangnim Gymnasium is an open-type gymnasium that can be used by both workers in the industrial complex and local residents," adding, "We expect that Sinpyeongjangnim Gymnasium will improve not only the working conditions of industrial complex workers but also the residential environment of the underdeveloped industrial area."
