Gyeonggi-do Prepares Flood Damage Measures for Riverside Parking Lots in Response to Heavy Rain... Until September 30 Guri Seongsin Cement Riverside Parking Lot

Gyeonggi Province is preparing flood damage countermeasures for 38 riverside parking lots located in 16 cities and counties within the province in response to heavy rainfall.

The flood damage countermeasures aim to prevent casualties and vehicle damage in riverside parking lots that may occur during hydrometeorological disasters such as heavy rain, typhoons, and downpours.

Gyeonggi Province will first implement measures by September 30, including restricting vehicle entry into riverside parking lots, relocating parked vehicles, and forcibly towing vehicles if contact with owners is lost or if they do not comply, whenever weather warnings such as heavy rain advisories are issued. Additionally, an emergency communication system will be established with cities and counties, and response plans for each weather advisory will be developed and implemented.

In particular, if vehicles are damaged by flooding, compensation will be handled by each city or county under the public facility liability insurance. Public facilities refer to installations established by the state or public organizations for public purposes, such as roads, rivers, ports, and government office buildings.

Kim Seong-hwan, Director of the Taxi Transportation Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This measure is to protect the valuable property and lives of residents from hydrometeorological disasters," and added, "We will do our best to implement flood damage countermeasures for riverside parking lots."
