Jungnang-gu Awards Cash Prizes to Residents Who Identify At-Risk Households

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has embarked on a mission to find neighbors in need together with its residents.

The district established the "Jungnang-gu Crisis Household Discovery and Support Activation Ordinance" in October last year and has been promoting the "Jungnang-type Crisis Household Reporting Reward System" since March this year, which provides rewards to residents who discover and report neighbors in crisis situations.

This initiative aims to activate the discovery of crisis households in blind spots by having neighbors identify and support them, thereby strengthening a resident-centered welfare community.

The reporting targets are crisis households requiring economic or physical assistance due to financial difficulties, health problems, or social isolation. When such a household is found, the reporter can apply by phone or visit the local community service center in the jurisdiction of the target's address. Upon receiving the report, the district provides tailored counseling and connects the target with necessary public benefits or private services.

If the discovered crisis household is selected as a ▲basic livelihood security recipient ▲near-poverty class ▲legal single-parent family beneficiary, the reporter will receive a reward of 30,000 KRW. However, if the reporter is the crisis household member themselves, a family member or relative, or a mandatory reporter under the Social Security Benefits Act such as a community leader or public official, the reward will be restricted. The same reporter can receive rewards up to a maximum of 300,000 KRW annually.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The beautiful heart to know and help neighbors in need and the grateful heart of finding hope through neighbors’ help will create a virtuous cycle leading to hopeful welfare in Jungnang.” He added, “We ask for the interest and participation of many residents to discover crisis households in blind spots.”
