Ulleung County Implements Administrative Organization Restructuring in Second Half of 8th Civil Administration

Focus on Strengthening Safety, Enhancing Execution and Expertise in Core Businesses

Ulleung County in North Gyeongsang Province will carry out a reorganization of its administrative structure for the latter half of the 8th popularly elected term.

This restructuring plan aims to operate the organization with a focus on establishing a growth foundation centered on future vision and policy development. The current structure of 3 offices, 1 division, and 8 departments (47 teams, 196 personnel) will be changed to 2 offices, 1 division, and 9 departments (48 teams, 206 personnel).


The Economic Investment Promotion Office will be renamed the Economic and Transportation Policy Office and will oversee policies to enhance convenience in daily life, including economy, investment, transportation, and energy, in preparation for the aviation era.


The Construction Department will absorb safety management functions, be renamed the Safety and Construction Division, and have its rank elevated. The Culture, Tourism, and Sports Office will split its functions into the Tourism Department and the Culture and Sports Department.


A new Tourism and Forestry Department will be established by integrating forestry duties into the tourism sector, aiming to create an eco-friendly forest ecological tourism island. The Culture and Sports Department will integrate women's, children's, and youth affairs into the culture and sports sector, providing various physical activities, fostering emotional well-being, and promoting lifelong education (liberal arts), thereby aiming to enhance residents' happiness.


To increase expertise and efficiency in large-scale public architecture and urban development projects, a new Urban Architecture Department will be established. The Future Strategy Promotion Team will be renamed the Future Strategy Department and will focus on drawing up the county's policy project blueprint and addressing low birth rates.


This organizational restructuring is scheduled to be announced and implemented early next month, and the county is preparing personnel changes accordingly.


County Governor Nam Han-gwon stated, "This is the second organizational restructuring since the beginning of the 8th popularly elected term. We have carried out this restructuring to complete the key projects of the latter half of the term," adding, "We will usher in a new era for Ulleung by steadfastly pursuing key policies aimed at improving residents' quality of life and realizing a new Ulleung."
