'Inside Out 2' Surpasses Original Within 2 Weeks of Release

Global Ticket Revenue Hits 1.1928 Trillion Won
Domestic Audience Surpasses 5 Million in Just 18 Days

Disney Pixar's animated film 'Inside Out 2' surpassed the ticket revenue of its predecessor within just two weeks of release. According to North American media outlets including Variety on the 29th (Korean time), the film has grossed $863.1 million (approximately 1.1928 trillion KRW) worldwide as of that date. This exceeds the $858.85 million (approximately 1.1869 trillion KRW) earned by the original film released in 2015.

This ranks as the 19th highest-grossing animated film of all time. If the trend continues, it is expected to be the first film released this year to surpass $1 billion (approximately 1.382 trillion KRW). Variety noted, "This achievement is noteworthy given the current contraction in the global film industry."


'Inside Out 2' earned $411.8 million (approximately 569.1 billion KRW) in the North American market alone, surpassing the $405 million (approximately 554.1 billion KRW) earned by 'Frozen,' which was released in 2013. In South Korea, the cumulative audience surpassed 5 million on the 29th, exceeding the original film's 4.97 million viewers in just 18 days. It ranks third among all films released this year, following 'Pamy?' and 'Crime City 4.'

The film tells the story of Riley, a teenage girl facing high school entrance, and the various emotions working in her mind's 'Headquarters' that influence her. As she enters adolescence, new emotions such as anxiety, embarrassment, boredom, and envy emerge, causing fractures in the relationships among existing emotions. Many viewers in their 20s to 40s are flocking to the film, saying it feels like watching their own adolescence. As of 2 PM on the 30th, it maintained the lead with 81,049 advance bookings (31.2%).
