After Lim Young-woong's appearance on 'Three Meals a Day' was confirmed, on the 30th, comments criticizing his use of the word ‘deureungdeureung’ began to appear one after another on his YouTube channel.

According to the Standard Korean Language Dictionary by the National Institute of the Korean Language, ‘deureungdeureung’ is an adverb meaning ‘a loud, continuous ringing sound.’ It is mainly used to describe sounds such as snoring or a car engine starting. However, some have claimed that recently this expression has frequently been used in female-dominated online communities in contexts of misogyny or male disparagement.

On the male-dominated community ‘FM Korea,’ a post titled ‘Lim Young-woong used the word deureungdeureung’ received nearly 2,000 critical comments. Several posts expressed concerns such as, “I’m worried about how to explain this to my mother, who is a passionate fan of Lim Young-woong.”

In response, fans who learned about the ‘comment terror’ on Lim Young-woong’s YouTube channel have been posting supportive replies. Fans wrote comments like, “He simply expressed his eagerness to reveal it to fans quickly; what’s the problem?” and “Please take legal action against malicious comments without any settlement or leniency.”
