Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Districts Hold Preparation Review Meeting and Preliminary Inspection
Starting from July 1, the city of Busan will fully open all seven of its beaches located in Busan.
From July 1 to August 31, all seven beaches in Busan, including Haeundae and Songjeong Beaches, which had been partially open since June 1, will be open for two months.
Prior to the full opening of the beaches this year, the city held preparatory meetings with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, district offices, and other relevant agencies to review preparations for beach operations and conducted preliminary inspections.
On June 26, the city held a meeting at the Dadaepo Beach Park Management Center with the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, and others to review the readiness of tourism facilities, including the beaches, focusing on safety management, public order, transportation, prices, and sanitation.
Additionally, together with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the local district offices responsible for the beaches, preliminary inspections of preparations were conducted on May 31 for Haeundae and Songjeong Beaches, and on June 17 for Songdo Beach.
Furthermore, a risk assessment (a comprehensive survey of each beach's location and facilities) was conducted at all beaches, and the city provided budget support to ensure that an appropriate number of safety personnel were assigned to each beach.
This year, to enhance visitor convenience during the open season, cooling fog systems were installed at Dadaepo Beach and others, and special cleaning budget support was provided for all seven beaches.
As part of the city's participatory budgeting project this year, 190 million KRW was invested to install cooling fog systems at Dadaepo Beach and other locations.
Additionally, a total of 105 million KRW in special cleaning budget support was provided to the five districts hosting the seven beaches, aiming to create a pleasant environment during the beach season.
The city also plans to strengthen safety management through the establishment of a situation management system during the opening period and to promote the activation of the beaches throughout all four seasons.
On July 1, the first day of the opening, the city will inspect the operation of major beach facilities, including convenience and safety facilities, and encourage beach staff and stakeholders.
Furthermore, for continued safety management during the open season, the city will operate a situation management system in cooperation with the district offices from June 1 to August 31, and conduct joint on-site inspections with the districts as needed.
Additionally, to promote the beaches as year-round destinations rather than just summer spots, the city will continue to operate tourism content based on the beaches, such as the Haeundae Sand Festival, marine leisure sports, and the Gwangalli M Drone Light Show.
Park Geunrok, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau of the city, stated, "We will do our best to ensure that both domestic and international visitors can enjoy the beaches of Busan safely and happily by focusing on beach safety management and the operation of tourism content."
