Kim Dong-yeon Promises to Handle Hwaseong Factory Fire Incident Response and Recovery from the Bereaved Families' Perspective Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is paying his respects at the funeral hall for the victims of the Hwaseong factory fire accident on the 29th.

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon promised to handle the entire response and recovery process for the Hwaseong factory fire accident from the perspective of the bereaved families.


On the afternoon of the 29th, Governor Kim visited the funeral hall for the victims of the Hwaseong factory fire accident to offer condolences and met with the bereaved families, stating, "We are making efforts, including contacting the Minister of Employment and Labor, to ensure the incident is resolved quickly," and added, "We will organize the cases experienced by the families, such as lack of contact from the dispatch company, and prepare improvement measures."


The bereaved families expressed their gratitude, saying, "Thank you for your concern and visit," and requested, "The families had to individually inquire to confirm the deaths and cooperate with DNA collection, but we are being contacted again to redo these procedures, indicating that the post-incident handling is not prompt. Please make efforts to prevent similar cases from happening again, Governor."


After the conversation with the bereaved families, Governor Kim instructed Deputy Governor of Administration 2, Oh Hu-seok, saying, "Record and organize the contents of the (conversation with the bereaved families) thoroughly and establish disaster response and support measures, as well as recurrence prevention measures, from the perspective of the bereaved families."


Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province plans to document all processes of accident response, including from the time of the fire outbreak, fire suppression, support for bereaved families and the injured, and on-site inspections, focusing on related departments such as the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the Safety Management Office, Welfare Bureau, Labor Bureau, and Climate Environment Energy Bureau.


Earlier, at around 7 p.m. on the 28th, Governor Kim Dong-yeon called Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jeong-sik to request a swift investigation into illegal dispatch and subcontracting related to the Hwaseong factory fire accident.


Additionally, on the 24th and 25th, he spoke separately with Xing Haiming, the Chinese Ambassador to Korea, and Songkan Luangmunithon, the Laotian Ambassador to Korea, explaining the situation and measures for accident recovery.
