The "A Day of Mother and Daughter in Gunsan" trip attracted attention as over 120 teams applied within an hour of the application opening on the 18th. Even after the application deadline, there was significant interest with many hoping to participate or inquiring about the next travel period.

Applications were evenly distributed nationwide. Following Gyeonggi-do at 22% and Seoul at 21%, Jeonbuk, Daejeon, and Incheon followed in order. Among the participants selected on a first-come, first-served basis were notable pairs such as a 90-year-old and her daughter in their 60s, a mother with three daughters, and a mother in menopause with her adolescent daughter, drawing attention.

On the day, the participating mothers and daughters visited Gyeongam-dong Railroad Village, walked the sea path to Jwitdongsom Island in Munyeodo, and visited Jangjagyo Skywalk. They enjoyed a heartwarming time tasting Gunsan’s famous Jjamppong, widely known across the country. Additionally, the city prepared activities for creating special memories, including making sun hats, retro black-and-white photo shoots, and writing letters to each other.

A participant from Gyeonggi-do shared her travel impression, saying, "It was a rare opportunity to look back on the past and express feelings we were too shy to show, and I am truly grateful for the time we spent reflecting on each other."

For event safety, the city assigned three staff members per bus and included safety paramedics considering elderly participants. After the mother-daughter trip, an online marketing campaign will offer rewards on a first-come, first-served basis to participants who upload their travel reviews on social media.

A Gunsan city official said, "Although traveling together as mother and daughter seems easy, surprisingly many have not done it. Using this event as an opportunity, we plan to operate 'A Day of Mother and Daughter in Gunsan' trips with various courses utilizing Gunsan’s tourism resources and promote it as a new tourism concept."

Meanwhile, Gunsan is a tourist destination where a time-travel village preserving modern history and beautiful islands harmonize. As of last year, it attracted about 5.5 million visitors. With the number of tourists increasing every year, it has established itself as a city of tourism appeal. The city plans to focus on online marketing and conduct innovative events to attract even more tourists.
