President Yoon Suk-yeol emphasized on the 29th, the anniversary of the victory in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, that "we will create a stronger military and a stronger Republic of Korea to honor the sacrifices of our heroes."
On that day, President Yoon wrote on his social media platform Facebook, "On June 29, 2002, our navy repelled the North Korean forces who suddenly crossed the NLL (Northern Limit Line) and protected our waters."
President Yoon listed the names of the fallen heroes of the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong: the late Major Yoon Young-ha, the late Sergeant Han Sang-guk, the late Sergeant Jo Cheon-hyeong, the late Staff Sergeant Hwang Do-hyun, the late Staff Sergeant Seo Hu-won, and the late Private First Class Park Dong-hyeok, saying, "They fought bravely, holding onto the controls and trigger until their last moments, sacrificing their precious lives."
He added, "Our people will forever remember the noble sacrifices of these six fallen heroes and the veterans of the Chamsuri 357," and stated, "Peace is maintained not by words but by strong power."
