Kim Seong-jung, First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province

Kim Seong-jung, Deputy Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, was appointed as the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province on the 28th.

Deputy Governor Kim graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Public Administration and completed a master's program in Public Administration at Seoul National University before entering public service through the 39th Administrative Examination.

Deputy Governor Kim has served as Chief Secretary to the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Senior Administrative Officer at the Presidential Secretariat's Personnel Office, Director of Organizational Policy at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Director of Disaster Response Policy at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Recently, he gained experience in local administration while serving as Deputy Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

Deputy Governor Kim began his official schedule by paying respects at the joint memorial altar for the victims of the Hwaseong factory fire, set up on the first floor of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building, without holding a separate inauguration ceremony.

On the 29th, he plans to visit the fire accident site located in Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong City, and the Integrated Support Center for Victims established within the Hwaseong City Hall to console the bereaved families and encourage the on-site workers. Following this, he will visit the Gyeonggi Province Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, which is scheduled to be activated in response to the weekend heavy rain forecast, to check the preparedness status.

Deputy Governor Kim expressed his inauguration remarks, saying, "I feel a strong sense of responsibility as I take on this important role during a critical time. I will prioritize the safety and happiness of all Gyeonggi residents and do my best to create a Gyeonggi Province that meets the expectations of the residents through the realization of the policies of the 8th elected administration."
