Completion of Gyeonggi-do's First Liquefied Hydrogen Refueling Station in Icheon

120 Hydrogen Buses Can Be Charged Per Day

The first liquefied hydrogen refueling station in Gyeonggi Province has been established in Icheon City.

On the 27th, Icheon City held a completion ceremony for the liquefied hydrogen refueling station built at 34-9, Daeheung-ri, Daewol-myeon, and announced on the 28th that it has officially begun operations.

This liquefied hydrogen refueling station was constructed after being selected in the 2022 Ministry of Environment's hydrogen refueling station installation support project. The station can refuel 120 kg of hydrogen per hour. Based on hydrogen buses, it can refuel 6 buses per hour, approximately 120 buses per day.

The advantage of liquefied hydrogen refueling stations is that they allow large-volume transportation compared to gaseous hydrogen stations and have faster refueling times.

Meanwhile, the completion ceremony was attended by Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon; Kim Jae-heon, Vice Chairman of Icheon City Council; Ryu Pil-moo, Director of Future Air Strategy Division at the Ministry of Environment; Jeong Han-gyu, Director of Advanced Mobility Industry Division at Gyeonggi Province; So Yoo-seop, Vice President of SK E&S; Lee Bang-sil, Vice President of SK Hynix; and Heo Deok-haeng, Director of Planning and Coordination at KD Transportation Group.

Mayor Kim Kyung-hee said, "Building a hydrogen refueling station in Icheon City is the starting point of a pioneering investment toward the future and will be a turning point that accelerates the eco-friendly era."

Meanwhile, to establish Icheon as a leading hydrogen mobility city, last May, Icheon City signed an agreement with the Ministry of Environment, Gyeonggi Province, SK Hynix, SK E&S, and representatives of transportation companies to convert SK Hynix's commuter buses into eco-friendly hydrogen buses.
