POSCO Labor and Management Open a Future of Coexistence and Harmony

36th Anniversary This Year, First Established as 'Pohang Steel Workers' Union'

POSCO labor and management held a ceremony at the Pohang POSCO Labor Union office to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the union's founding on 'June 29 POSCO Labor-Management Coexistence Day,' pledging to create a culture of cooperation and harmony between labor and management.

This year marks the 36th anniversary of the POSCO Labor Union, which was first established on June 28, 1988, under the name 'Pohang Iron & Steel Labor Union.'

POSCO labor and management have designated June 29, the day the POSCO Labor Union completed its registration, as 'Labor-Management Coexistence Day,' commemorating it each year as a day to reaffirm mutual trust and respect.

The event was attended by Kim Seongho, Chairman of the POSCO Labor Union, Lee Siwoo, CEO of POSCO, executives and employees, as well as guests including Jeong Sangjun, Chairman of the Pohang Regional Branch of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, and Kim Dongil, Chairman of the Pohang Regional Branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union.

Through the ceremony, POSCO labor and management agreed to build consensus on new K-labor-management culture activities and to further strengthen POSCO's unique culture of coexistence and harmony between labor and management.

Kim Seongho, Chairman of the POSCO Labor Union, stated, "POSCO workers care for and love the company more than anyone," adding, "We will fulfill our social responsibilities to become a labor union loved by employees and supported by the local community and, more broadly, by the nation."

After the event, POSCO labor and management held a kickoff meeting for the 2024 wage negotiations at the POSCO headquarters conference room and plan to begin full-scale discussions on wage-related issues for employees starting in July.
