This agreement covers various areas such as sharing materials and historical monuments to promote national spirit and independence spirit, teacher training and production of educational materials, sponsoring events on the Gyeongsul National Humiliation Day, exchanges, and joint cooperation.
Branch head Song In-jeong said, "I sincerely congratulate the successful hosting of the 'Glocal Education Expo' held grandly last month under the leadership of the Jeonnam Office of Education," and added, "I deeply appreciate Superintendent Kim Dae-jung and the officials for their patriotic dedication in warmly accepting this memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting national spirit and the independence movement spirit at this important time."
He then introduced the anti-Japanese independence movement case of 'Martyr Ju Jae-nyeon,' the youngest independence activist from Dolsan Elementary School in Yeosu, and proposed to the Jeonnam Office of Education the construction of a bust in honor of 'Martyr Ju Jae-nyeon.'
In response, Superintendent Kim Dae-jung emphasized, "The spirit of Jeonnam education can be summed up in one word: righteousness (Ui), with the independence movement as the foremost virtue at its core," and said, "Let us all strive so that our children can embrace the spirit of the independence movement from an early age." He also stated that the construction of the bust of 'Martyr Ju Jae-nyeon' will be actively considered.
Going forward, the two organizations plan to work closely together to revitalize educational projects that promote national spirit and the independence movement spirit, and to strive for historical education based on democratic citizenship education for future generations.
