On the 27th, the Department of Architecture at Dongmyung University conducted an architectural culture exploration.
This program was part of an on-site experience initiative for industries and exhibitions, where participants visited the “Future Positive: Norman Foster, Foster + Partners” exhibition by world-renowned architect Norman Foster, as well as the Seoul Architecture Award Exhibition.
Norman Foster, a British architect, received the Pritzker Prize?often referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture?in 1999 and is recognized as a pioneer of high-tech architecture. His notable works include the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Headquarters, the Pompidou Center, Hearst Tower, and Apple Park.
The Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture is the first exhibition hall in Korea dedicated to urban architecture. It received the Excellence Award at the 2019 Seoul Architecture Awards. Participants toured the building and viewed the exhibitions.
Jung Giheum, the student representative of the Department of Architecture, said, “It was great to see a variety of works by the world-class architect Norman Foster, which are hard to find in Busan, through architectural models, videos, and drawings. It was a meaningful time to gain insight into the architect's world of work. I believe it will be very helpful for my future architectural design projects.”
The Department of Architecture at Tongmyong University holds the architectural culture tour program every year. Through continuous participation, students have broadened their perspectives and developed their competencies, achieving the highest number of awards in domestic and international architecture competitions and a 93.1% official employment rate in 2023.
