Chungnam Province Secures 318 Billion KRW in National Funding After Declaring Special Carbon Neutral Economy Province

Chungnam Province has achieved the success of securing 318 billion KRW in national funding after declaring itself a Carbon Neutral Economy Special Province.

On the 28th, the province held a report meeting on the Carbon Neutral Economy Special Province to review the progress.

Since declaring the Carbon Neutral Economy Special Province in October 2022, the province has established a promotion strategy consisting of 72 detailed tasks across five major sectors. Through this, it plans to achieve an economic ripple effect of 101.5 trillion KRW, create 602,000 jobs, and attract 9.1 trillion KRW in national funding by 2045.

As a result of discovering various projects based on the promotion strategy, the province was able to secure 318 billion KRW in national funding.

The major nationally funded projects include the creation of a hydrogen city, establishment of a hydrogen production base based on water electrolysis, and construction of a hydrogen gas turbine test research center. Additionally, private investment projects such as a blue hydrogen production base in Boryeong and a hydrogen combustion turbine power plant in Seosan are also being pursued.

Jeon Hyung-sik, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, said, "The carbon neutral economy is a core policy of the 8th elected provincial government, and many achievements have been made to the extent that it is difficult to explain each one individually," adding, "We will ensure that Chungnam becomes a national hub for the carbon neutral economy."
