Gmarket Expands Membership Benefits Significantly... "44,000 KRW Discount Every Month"

Discount Rate Increased from 12% to 15% Starting Next Month 1
Minimum Purchase Amount Removed... Discount Applies Even for 100 Won Purchases

Gmarket announced on the 30th that it will significantly enhance the benefits of its membership program, ‘Shinsegae Universe Club.’ The company will expand the scale of monthly discount coupons and remove discount conditions to increase price benefits.

Starting in July, membership members will receive a total of four new discount coupons from Gmarket and Auction respectively: ▲one 15% discount coupon (up to 5,000 KRW) and ▲three 10% discount coupons (up to 3,000 KRW). The ‘5% coupon’ (3 coupons + unlimited issuance), which provides discounts up to 10,000 KRW, will remain unchanged.

The 15% coupon is an upgrade from the previous 12% coupon. The minimum purchase amount condition (15,000 KRW) required to use the coupon has been completely removed. Members can apply the discount coupon even when purchasing items priced at just 100 KRW.

Additionally, the existing fixed 1,000 KRW coupon has been eliminated and replaced with three ‘10% coupons’ that offer discounts up to 3,000 KRW. These coupons also have all 15,000 KRW purchase conditions removed.

With this expansion and reorganization of discount coupons, the company explained that membership members will receive nearly double the amount of price benefits compared to before. If members previously received an 8,000 KRW discount by using all four changed coupons, they will now receive a 14,000 KRW discount. Including the 5% coupon, members can receive discounts exceeding 44,000 KRW per month.

The existing strong membership-exclusive benefits will be maintained. Representative examples include free shipping benefits of the next-day combined packaging service ‘Smile Delivery’ and a 15% overlapping discount coupon exclusive to the ‘Brand of the Month.’ Food delivery coupons, book discounts, and airline ticket discount coupons will also continue to be provided.

In line with the enhanced benefits, membership-exclusive promotions will also be held. From the 1st to the 7th of next month, Gmarket and Auction will host the ‘Shinsegae Universe Club Week,’ offering all membership members unlimited ‘7% overlapping coupons’ with discounts up to 10,000 KRW. During the event period, an accumulation event will also be introduced where members who spend 70,000 KRW or more with the same card will receive 7% of the total payment amount, up to 10,000 KRW, as Smile Cash.
