At the meeting, various opinions were exchanged regarding the improvement of residential conditions, such as resolving student overcrowding, establishing new elementary and private middle schools to prevent population outflow due to education, and expanding parking infrastructure and cultural facilities.

Chairman Lee Eul-chul emphasized, “The overcrowding phenomenon in elementary schools is gradually leading to overcrowding in middle schools, and cases of public institution employees moving to large cities are increasing,” adding, “It is necessary to explicitly legislate a new provision in the Innovation City Act that allows the relevant metropolitan and local governments to directly establish and operate schools.”

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae stated, “Various projects that Naju City is focusing on to improve residential conditions in the innovation city, such as establishing new elementary schools, a complex innovation center, a children’s theme park, and a lakeside park water performance hall, are gradually becoming visible, and it is expected that there will be groundbreaking improvements starting next year,” adding, “We will actively cooperate with Gwangjeonnohyeop, a partner in Naju’s re-leap, to ensure that Bitgaram Innovation City becomes a leading model of national balanced development with the best residential conditions nationwide.”

Meanwhile, the city operates a Communication Day with Gwangjeonnohyeop every month to collect suggestions for the development of the innovation city.

Also, through the ‘Semiannual Communication Day with the Mayor of Naju City,’ the city strengthens the cooperative system with public institutions and enhances mutual understanding between institutions.

Through this, the city plans to discover new cooperative projects that can create synergy effects for regional development, aiming to achieve maximum effect with minimal cost.
